Instant Coffee

Spray Dried Instant Coffee

A spray dryer mixes a heated gas with a sprayed Coffee extract stream within a drying chamber to accomplish evaporation and produce a free-flowing dry Coffee powder with a controlled average particle size. The shape of most spray-dried particles is spherical, which provides for fluid-like flow properties. This makes many downstream operations, such as packaging, pressing, filtering, and handling easier and economical.

Agglomerated Instant Coffee

Spray dried coffee particles are fused together to form larger particles. These large cluster particles of coffee or Agglomerated coffee are used to provide a visually more favorable product. Some consumers prefer agglomerated Instant coffee due to the aesthetic appeal of its larger clusters and its convenient, fast-dissolving property.

Freeze Dried Instant Coffee

In freeze-drying, the coffee extract is frozen to about – 40°C and cut into granules. The frozen granules are then dried at low temperature and under vacuum. Because the water is removed without using heat, many of the coffee’s valuable flavors and the aroma are preserved.
